The Board of Directors of WENIRUDA met on December 18th 2009 and discussed a range of issues summarized herein. The board judged that the organization’s performance in 2009 was good but identified key areas in which WENIRUDA still needed substantial improvement. The most urgent issue was execution—turning of plans into action. This required better management of the staff. The board recommended enhancing staff motivation through payment of a salary and a performance-based bonus. The board also expected to see closer mentoring and evaluation of staff, speedier communication and synchronization with international partners and excellence in following through on project objectives and tasks. WENIRUDA’s obligation to excellence is even more necessary because of the grants from the USAID and Erik Thune foundation. The Board also committed to convening quarterly to better assess performance of the staff, and if necessary intervene in a timely manner. Lastly, and most importantly the board extended their deepest appreciation for the work WENIRUDA’s partners do to enable development in West Nile and wished the partners happy holidays. |
